The former minister Adrian Câciu announced on Facebook that Romania has exhausted the funds from the PNRR, having "0 euros in accounts", which represents a serious problem. Although Romania is to receive 3.1 billion euros from the European Commission, it has not drawn a single cent from the PNRR since June 2025 until now. So far, Romania has received 10.5 billion euros but has spent approximately 11 billion euros on PNRR projects.
Câciu emphasizes that the deadlines for collecting 840 million euros from Payment Request 3 and 2.3 billion euros from Payment Request 4 have expired, and their validation could be delayed until 2026. He criticizes the current Minister of Funds for a lack of transparency and for the loss of 7 billion euros from the PNRR, raising concerns about the financial risks generated by this situation, including the impact on the budget deficit and the exchange rate. Câciu calls for a clear action plan to address these issues.
