Ilie Bolojan, the Prime Minister of Romania, announced the completion of negotiations with the European Commission for the modification of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), after discussions lasting over two months. The aim of these negotiations was to maintain the funds allocated through the PNRR, and Bolojan emphasized that the non-reimbursable amounts of 13.6 billion euros have been fully preserved.
The loans have been reduced to 6.64 billion euros due to delays in completing certain projects. An essential aspect of the negotiations was ensuring funding for highway projects, with the agreement of the European Commission for payments based on the work completed. Additionally, changes were made regarding the reforms committed to through the PNRR, obtaining approval for the reduction of certain targets in areas where the initial objectives are no longer achievable.
Bolojan thanked the technical teams involved for the success of the negotiations.
