The Minister of Internal Affairs, Cătălin Predoiu, stated that Romania is among the safest countries in the world, having a crime rate lower than that of many other European states. According to data from the platform numbeo.com, Romania ranks 28th in Europe, with an estimated crime rate of 32.8 and a safety index of 67.2. These figures place our country below France, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and England, while crime in Bulgaria, Hungary, and the Republic of Moldova is perceived as being higher. Predoiu emphasized the efforts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, mentioning 13,786 home searches and 123 dismantled criminal groups in the past year.
Additionally, over 3 tons of drugs have been confiscated, and measures such as the establishment of drug analysis laboratories and the increase of anti-drug police officers have been implemented to support the fight against crime.
