A 35-year-old Romanian man has been placed in preventive custody in Romania, accused of raping a 12-year-old minor who was reported missing in Spain.
The Prosecutor's Office near the Alba Tribunal announced that the man had sexual relations with the minor in Belgium as well as in Romania, taking advantage of the victim's inability to express her will due to her young age. The defendant, a repeat offender, was recently released and has a criminal record. The minor ran away from home on July 20, wanting to be with the man, and she was found only on August 19.
The judge ordered the preventive arrest of the defendant for 30 days, and criminal proceedings were initiated to prevent the commission of other offenses. It is emphasized that all measures of criminal prosecution respect the principle of presumption of innocence.
