Every weekend, the event 'Open Streets - Bucharest' attracts thousands of visitors, but residents in the Amzei area are facing serious traffic and parking problems.
A petition initiated by residents has been sent to the authorities, signaling that the only access road remains Mendeleev Street, while visitors occupy parking spaces, leaving residents with no options. They complain about the chaos generated by the disregard for one-way streets and the blocking of intersections, which hinders access for emergency vehicles.
The petition proposes measures such as installing an access filter for residents and emergency crews, freeing up unused parking spaces, and reconfiguring traffic lights at congested intersections. Additionally, residents demand that Amzei Square operate as a food market, not as a 'museum' for visitors.
The petition will be forwarded to the authorities in the hope that the issues will be resolved.
