Radu Miruță, the interim Minister of Transport, stated that he does not accept the PESA trains to remain unused at Gara Obor, emphasizing that solutions are being sought to put them into circulation as soon as possible. In a press conference, Miruță explained that the delays are caused by bureaucratic issues between the responsible structures, but he stressed that it is unacceptable for new trains to be idle while other trains operate under poor conditions.
The Pro Infrastructura Association pointed out that 21 PESA trains are sitting unused at Gara Obor due to a lack of maintenance facilities, which are required according to the contract signed with PESA. The regional electric trains, purchased in January 2024, are equipped with modern facilities and have a capacity of 160 seats.
The project is financed through the Modernization Fund, having a total budget of almost 2.8 billion lei.
