The protest, organized by the FILIA Centre and other civic organizations, comes in reaction to the murder of a 22-year-old woman who was attacked with an axe by her ex-partner in front of her family. Organizers point out that violence against women is often tolerated and the authorities fail to react adequately. The demonstration calls for urgent measures to combat gender-based violence, including law enforcement, risk assessment in cases of domestic violence, education and consultation with feminist organizations. The protesters call for solidarity and concrete action to stop violence against women in Romania.
