The parliamentary group S.O.S. Romania announced the submission of a proposal for suspension of President Nicușor Dan, a document sent to the Joint Permanent Bureaus of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. The initiative, signed by Deputy Simona-Elena Macovei Ilie, invokes Article 95 paragraph 1 of the Constitution, but raises questions as it does not present the necessary supporting evidence from a minimum number of parliamentarians.

According to the Constitution, suspension can only be initiated with the support of at least one third of the parliamentarians. S.O.S. Romania accuses the president of generating an institutional imbalance, intervening in justice, and exerting pressure on the Constitutional Court. The document criticizes the lack of a proposal for the civil leadership of the SRI and the president's involvement in negotiations for forming the new Government.

It is also mentioned that Nicușor Dan would have violated the neutrality of the presidential office by participating in political events. In its current form, the initiative faces a lack of necessary parliamentary support to advance in the constitutional procedure. S.O.S. Romania considers the approach a legitimate tool for parliamentary control.
