Iancu Costinel, a police officer with the Pitesti Special Operations Brigade, is charged with three offenses of extortion and divulging secret information. DNA prosecutors started the criminal proceedings and Costinel was detained for 24 hours. He is alleged to have put pressure on a director of a pharmaceutical group in order to obtain undue benefits, including money and goods. He also divulged confidential information to help his family. On July 3, 2025, Costinel will be presented to the court with a remand proposal.
