The police intervention to resolve a conflict in Mureș County ended with casualties.

Serious incident in Mureș County, where a police officer on duty was attacked while intervening to defuse a conflict between two men in the locality of Vătava.

According to the spokesperson of IPJ Mureș, Aurica Mate, the officer was struck in the head with a blunt object by a 22-year-old man, which prompted the officer to use his service weapon.

A bullet hit the aggressor in the leg, and both were urgently transported to the hospital. The area was quickly secured by masked officers and gendarmes. The young man who was shot is hemodynamically and respiratorily stable, under investigation, and the attacked police officer also received medical care. The police have opened a criminal case for assault in this matter.
