A 24-year-old driver pursued by police in the counties of Caraș-Severin and Mehedinți was stopped with gunfire and a tire-deflation device after refusing to pull over when signaled by officers. The incident took place near the town of Mehadia, and the man was later caught near the railway station in Băile Herculane.
Police tried to stop the driver of a car registered in Germany, but he continued driving. To immobilize the vehicle, officers used a device that punctures tires. The driver did not stop even after this intervention, so police fired two warning shots.
Eventually, the car was immobilized and the man was handcuffed. Checks carried out after the stop showed that an arrest warrant was issued in his name. According to police, he was listed as having committed more than 20 serious traffic offenses.
The driver was handed over to police officers in Mehedinți, who will continue the legal proceedings. Footage of the operation captures the pursuit, the use of the tire-deflation device and the officers' intervention.
