A 28-year-old Romanian man was arrested by police officers in Avellino, Italy, after refusing to stop at a traffic check in the town of Lauro and triggering a dangerous chase.
The incident occurred during an inspection operation carried out by officers from the Lauro police station. The driver of a Mercedes A-Class ignored the officers’ signal, accelerated and made risky maneuvers, endangering pedestrians, other road users and the officers pursuing him.
Police quickly identified the driver, a Romanian man already known to law enforcement, who lives in the Valle Lauro area. He was later found at home and arrested.
The man is accused of evading a traffic check, driving without a license and using a false or altered license plate. In Italy, refusing to stop, combined with a dangerous chase, can be punished by six months to five years in prison. Driving without a license and using false plates can also lead to criminal penalties and the confiscation of the vehicle.
