Adriana Georgescu, PNL lawyer, and a fake SIE general have been indicted by the DNA for influence peddling, promising help to a businessman in exchange for 500,000 euros.

Adriana Georgescu, a lawyer from PNL Sector 1, and a man who posed as a SIE general were apprehended by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) for influence peddling. The two allegedly promised businessman Jean-Paul Tucan that they could help him escape from two criminal cases, initially asking for 5,000 euros, and later 500,000 euros.

Adriana Georgescu claimed to have access to important officials in the Presidential Administration and Government, and the money was said to be intended for the electoral campaign of a candidate for the Capital City Hall. The first installments of the requested amount were given on January 28, when the sting operation took place. PNL Sector 1 announced that it would immediately suspend Adriana Georgescu's membership status, according to internal procedures.
