The Municipality of Bucharest (PMB) announced on Wednesday the plans for the modernization of Bdul. Dimitrie Pompeiu, one of the busiest arteries in the capital. The project includes the widening of the street to four lanes, with expropriations approved for a corridor of 35,888 sqm, estimated at 74 million lei. After modernization, Bdul. Dimitrie Pompeiu will have two traffic lanes, bike lanes, a double tram line, and wider sidewalks.
The tram line will be extended to Bdul. Barbu Văcărescu, and the tracks will be connected to line 5. Additionally, a pedestrian bridge will be built, and a connecting road between Șos. Pipera and Str. Fabrica de Glucoză will facilitate traffic. At the intersection with Str. Petricani, a car overpass will be constructed over the railway. The project, estimated to last a minimum of two years, aims to reconfigure traffic to reduce congestion. PMB has already started the modernization works on the tram line.
