Philip Morris Romania has implemented an initiative to install solar panels in the parking lot and on the roof of the factory in Otopeni, with the support of ENGIE Romania, starting from November 1st. This action is part of a broader sustainability plan, in which the company has invested over 730 million dollars since 2017 for the modernization of the factory. The solar panels, with a total capacity of 3.4 MWh, reduce the carbon footprint and support the operation of the largest industrial electric boiler in Romania.

Kurnia Adhi Sulistyawan, Manufacturing Director, emphasized the company's commitment to combating climate change and achieving carbon neutrality. The Zero Carbon Tech project, launched in 2016-2017, included energy assessments and solutions for reducing the carbon footprint. In 2024, CO₂ emissions generated by the burning of natural gas will be reduced annually by up to 10 kT. Philip Morris is also committed to responsible resource management, waste recycling, and reforestation projects, thus contributing to a sustainable future.
