Authorities conducted one of the largest operations within the "Jupiter 5" initiative on Wednesday, with 72 operational actions at the national level, 416 home search warrants, and 165 summonses, in cases involving economic crimes, corruption, and organized crime.
The estimated damage exceeds 104 million lei and 219,000 euros. The investigations concern tax evasion, embezzlement, misappropriation, money laundering, smuggling, counterfeiting, computer fraud, acts of corruption, violations of the arms and ammunition regime, as well as environmental and forestry crimes.
Investigators are pursuing the documentation of fictitious financial circuits, identifying tax frauds and undeclared commercial activities, as well as detecting counterfeit products and online frauds. At the same time, thefts, pimping, blackmail, and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals are being investigated. Depending on the evidence, authorities may impose preventive measures and establish seizures for the recovery of damages.
The Public Ministry emphasizes the high level of cooperation between prosecutors and the Romanian Police and specifies that searches represent a probative procedure that does not affect the presumption of innocence.
