The National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC), Romanian Police, Romanian Banking Association (ARB), and Mastercard issue a warning regarding the increase in online fraud attempts through the national project #SigurantaOnline. These frauds involve counterfeit websites that imitate well-known media institutions, promoting fictitious investment platforms. Experts emphasize that attackers use sponsored ads and social media campaigns to gain users' trust, presenting articles that seem legitimate but direct victims to fraudulent sites.

Fraudsters follow a few simple steps: they attract users with attractive investment offers, convince them to provide personal data, and ultimately, they persuade them to transfer money or grant access to their accounts. To avoid these traps, Romanians are advised to carefully check website addresses, treat ads promising quick profits with caution, and not to share personal data over the phone or on unknown sites. Fraud attempts can be reported on the platform pnrisc.dnsc.ro or at the emergency number 1911, and users can find useful information at www.sigurantaonline.ro.
