Oana Coiu left a reception in Washington after one of the Tate brothers tried to approach her.

The Romanian minister stated in an interview for Adevărul that she left a reception organized by Paolo Zampolli, Donald Trump's envoy, in Washington, after one of the Tate brothers attempted to approach her. The reception took place a day before her meeting with Marco Rubio. She explained that she was not aware of the guest list and that, at the moment she noticed the presence of the Tate brothers, she deemed it justified to leave.

She emphasized that there was no private or official conversation with them and instructed her team to reject any meeting invitations. The Tate brothers were later arrested in Miami at the request of the United Kingdom, being accused of rape and human trafficking. In Romania, they are being investigated for trafficking minors and other serious crimes. Recent investigations suggest that the Tate brothers benefited from interventions by American officials in their case.
