The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, signed on Thursday the decree to decorate the former President of Poland, Lech Wałęsa, with the National Order 'Star of Romania' in the rank of Grand Cross. This distinction is awarded as a sign of high appreciation for Wałęsa's exceptional merits in strengthening Romanian-Polish bilateral relations and for his contribution to promoting democratic values in Eastern Europe.
The announcement was made by the Presidential Administration through an official statement. On the same day, Nicușor Dan will meet with Wałęsa at the European Solidarity Center in Gdansk, in the context of his participation in the Eastern Flank Summit, organized by the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk. Leaders from Romania, Lithuania, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Latvia will participate in the summit. This meeting underscores the importance of the relations between Romania and Poland within the framework of regional cooperation.
