The PSD MEP, Victor Negrescu, stated that the peace talks between the United States and Ukraine, held in Berlin, represent a crucial stage in the context of the conflict that affects the security of Europe.

He considers that the advancement of dialogue is a positive sign, but emphasizes that any agreement must be solid and future-oriented, in order to avoid instabilities. Negrescu highlighted the essential objectives for Romania, including maintaining the Black Sea as a safe and stable space, supporting the Republic of Moldova, and defending democracy against external influences. Romania, as a frontier state of the EU and NATO, has a legitimate interest in these discussions, and any peace initiative must respect security and democratic values. Sustainable peace involves not only the cessation of conflict but also ensuring stability and respecting the will of the citizens.
