The National Bank of Romania (NBR) has issued a warning about an increase in fraud attempts using spoofing techniques, including fake phone calls and messages. Scammers use deepfakes to present themselves as NBR officials in order to obtain personal data or carry out financial transactions. The NBR emphasizes that it does not ask for confidential information through unofficial channels and recommends avoiding providing personal data. Official communications are conducted exclusively through official NBR websites and accounts.
