Alexandru Nazare participates in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York

Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare is taking part on Monday and Tuesday in New York in meetings with American investors and international financial institutions to attract capital for Romania’s strategic projects. The visit is part of the official delegation led by President Nicușor Dan to the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

The minister’s agenda includes talks with representatives of J.P. Morgan and institutional investors holding Romanian government bonds. The discussions will examine the state of public finances, the reduction of the budget deficit, the state’s financing needs and the outlook for the Romanian economy.

Nazare will also attend a roundtable organized by the Atlantic Council Romania on critical infrastructure and transatlantic capital in Central and Eastern Europe. The discussions will focus on American investment in energy, infrastructure, technology and production capacity, as well as the integration of Romanian companies into transatlantic supply chains.

On Tuesday, the minister will meet with Ben Black, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation. The officials will discuss financing instruments for Romanian projects and the involvement of American capital in strategic sectors. The efforts continue the dialogue conducted in recent months with the DFC, U.S. EXIM Bank and representatives of the U.S. Congress within the framework of the Romanian-American Strategic Partnership.
