Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare is attending the informal ECOFIN meeting taking place on September 18-19 in Dublin, under the coordination of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Finance ministers from the member states and central bank governors are examining the changes affecting the European economy, with a focus on the transformation of the financial sector.

On the first day, discussions will focus on financial innovation and the future of capital worldwide. Participants will assess how new technologies are transforming markets, as well as the opportunities and risks associated with this process. The discussions aim to clarify the effects on the competitiveness, resilience and development of the European economy.

The September 19 programme is dedicated to the impact of artificial intelligence on the economy and society. The discussion will begin with a presentation by Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, and will continue in working groups, whose conclusions will subsequently be reviewed by all participants.

The Romanian minister's agenda also includes a bilateral meeting with his French counterpart, Roland Lescure. The two will discuss the economic situation in Romania and France, the development of capital markets, attracting private investment and European competitiveness. Public finances and the need to reduce imbalances will also be addressed, while maintaining room for investment and economic growth.
