An 83-year-old woman was killed in Pantelimon by her caregiver, who allegedly gave her a poisoned drink and then suffocated her.

In the commune of Pantelimon, Ilfov County, an 83-year-old woman was killed by Mirela, her caregiver, on the night of October 16 to 17. The woman allegedly prepared a drink for the pensioner with coffee, wine, soap, and medication, after which she suffocated her with a pillow.

A 12-year-old girl, a witness to the incident, heard suspicious noises and reported to her father, who was the beneficiary of a life usufruct contract, suspecting that the death was not natural. The man went to the police and filed a complaint against his girlfriend. Mirela was found in Dăbuleni, Dolj, where she confessed to the act and is to be presented in court for arrest. The body of the elderly woman will be exhumed to determine the exact cause of death, and the Prosecutor's Office next to the Ilfov Tribunal has initiated criminal proceedings for qualified murder.
