Mircea Lucescu, the head coach of the Romanian national football team, left this morning for Brussels for detailed medical investigations, after being discharged from the University Hospital in Bucharest a week ago. The coach has been hospitalized three times this year due to health issues, including heart problems and a complicated flu, requiring antibiotic treatment for a subcutaneous infection. Lucescu decided to seek a "second medical opinion" from the Romanian doctor Ștefan Constantinescu in Belgium.

The president of the Romanian Football Federation, Răzvan Burleanu, emphasized that the priority is Lucescu's health, who will decide on February 20 whether he will lead the national team in the qualifying playoff for the 2026 World Cup. The Federation is prepared for any scenario depending on the outcome of the medical consultation.
