Metrorex is considering the extension of Metro Line 3 towards Chiajna by adding 8 new stations over a total length of 19 kilometers.

The general director of Metrorex, Mariana Miclăuș, stated that they are in the process of preparing the necessary documentation for this project, which will connect densely populated residential areas such as Militari Residence and Prelungirea Ghencea. The project will include a connection to the Militari Shopping Complex and will be built parallel to the existing train line. Additionally, the construction of two above-ground stations is anticipated, and discussions with the authorities in Chiajna are ongoing to establish details regarding a metro station in Militari Residence.

Metrorex also aims to extend the metro network into the localities of Ilfov, and company representatives have met with the mayor of Chiajna to analyze the proposal.
