The Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration (MDLPA) has initiated a public debate for a government decision project aimed at updating rental rates for state housing, which have not been modified for almost two decades. The increase in prices from 2007 to 2024 has exceeded 224%, and the current rents are well below market value. The project provides for the establishment of rent based on a rate per square meter, with different rates for living rooms, secondary spaces, and annexes. Additionally, a system of discounts and a maximum rent ceiling based on tenants' incomes will be introduced. Rates will be updated annually, according to inflation, and the project must be approved and adopted to come into effect.
