Sorin Bucurescu, the mayor of the Slivilești commune in Gorj, was stopped by police in the municipality of Motru, where he was driving the mayor's car. At the age of 53, the mayor refused to take the breathalyzer test, and the police took him to the hospital for biological sample collection.
The tests conducted showed a blood alcohol concentration of 1.79 per thousand, confirming alcohol consumption before driving. The Motru Municipal Police has opened a criminal case for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and the mayor has been left without a driver's license. Authorities emphasize that these measures are necessary for traffic safety and compliance with the law.
