A 59-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol and without a driving license, stole a car with a 7-year-old child inside in Izvoarele commune, Olt County. After less than a kilometer, the man lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a culvert. The child was taken to the Slatina County Emergency Hospital, and initial information indicates that the injuries were not serious.

The incident occurred after the child's father stopped the car in front of the house and briefly went into the yard. As he intended to leave immediately, he left the keys in the ignition, while the child remained in the vehicle. The 59-year-old man allegedly took advantage of the situation, got behind the wheel and drove away.

Rescue crews intervened after the accident. Police established that the suspect did not hold a driving license, while a breathalyzer indicated 1.17 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air.

The man is being investigated for unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving without a license, driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent bodily harm. Judges ordered him to be placed in preventive detention for 30 days.
