Ciprian Ciucu, the general mayor of the Capital, announced on Friday that he wishes to eliminate all free parking for the parking lots managed by the Municipality, emphasizing that the number of cars benefiting from exemptions is twice as high as the available spaces. During a press conference, the mayor explained that this situation makes the parking system inefficient and costly for the city.
Ciucu mentioned that, instead of maintaining an inefficient system, it would be better to leave the parking lots open, without management. He emphasized that the decision is a pragmatic one, necessary for the good management of the city and for balancing the budget. The mayor acknowledged that, although he drives a hybrid car, it is important to make decisions based on evidence and normality to ensure access for all Bucharest residents to parking.
