Marius Lulea, one of the founders of AUR, alerted the police on Sunday morning after finding a pig’s head at the gate of his home. The incident allegedly took place during the night, and the authorities are to determine who left the object and the reason for the act.
Images captured by surveillance cameras in the area show a car stopping in front of the politician’s house. A person got out of the vehicle, left an object at the gate, and then drove away. According to information broadcast by România TV, Lulea also found a poster stuck to his car, depicting a comic-book character described as a violent thief.
A pig’s head is associated, in certain mafia-related contexts, with a warning or a message of contempt. It is not clear for now whether the object was left as a threat, nor whether there is any connection between the incident and Lulea’s political activity.
The incident comes after Petrișor Peiu, leader of the AUR senators, stated that Marius Lulea is no longer a member of the party, as he allegedly failed to pay his membership fee for more than a year. Peiu specified that the termination of his membership allegedly resulted from the application of a provision in the party’s statutes.
