AUR has asked the authorities to investigate the participation in the farmers’ protest on September 15 of individuals who allegedly displayed a banner reading “AUR Bacău” without being members of the party or authorized to represent the county branch. The party claims that they falsely presented themselves as AUR representatives and is calling for legal responsibility to be established.
According to the statement issued by the party, the individuals in question allegedly acted through Vasile Botomei, whom AUR says was previously convicted of forgery and the use of forged documents in connection with falsely assuming official positions. The allegations are to be verified by the authorities.
In the same statement, AUR distanced itself from Marius Dorin Lulea, noting that he no longer holds any position in the party and does not represent the party’s official positions. AUR says that his statements are exclusively his own and that some of them contradict the positions adopted by the party.
The party led by George Simion also asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Romanian Gendarmerie to clarify the identity and role of an individual captured in footage of the incidents in Victoriei Square. According to AUR, the person was reportedly seen both in the area where disorder took place and intervening alongside law enforcement officers to restrain some participants. The party is asking the authorities to specify whether the individual had official duties.
