A 38-year-old man was definitively convicted after making explicit calls for domestic violence against women during a live YouTube broadcast. The decision was handed down on October 9, 2026, by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, which upheld the ruling of the Bucharest District 3 Court.
The acts took place on November 20, 2022, at around 2:00 a.m., during a broadcast watched by more than 100 people. According to investigators, the defendant, identified as P.V.M., publicly claimed that women should be assaulted and that domestic violence represented a form of asserting male authority. The messages were deemed by the court to constitute incitement to physical assaults and to have created a hostile, degrading, intimidating and humiliating atmosphere toward women.
Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest District 3 Court indicted him in January 2024 for public incitement and incitement to violence, hatred or discrimination.
In its ruling of March 20, 2026, the Bucharest District 3 Court imposed sentences of six months in prison for public incitement and nine months for incitement to violence, hatred or discrimination. The sentences were combined into a final sentence of 11 months in prison, the enforcement of which was postponed for a two-year supervision period. The man must comply with the measures imposed by the court and perform 30 days of unpaid community service.
