A man from Cernavodă has been remanded in custody for attempted murder after intentionally hitting his ex-partner with a car.

The incident occurred on July 18, 2025, when the man behind the wheel of a car accelerated toward his former concubine on the sidewalk, causing injuries requiring two months of medical care. Although he claimed it was an accident, prosecutors determined that he had previously threatened to kill the woman and was constantly harassing her. The victim reported the harassment but did not press criminal charges. The man was arrested for 30 days.
