The Swedish group Lindab, specialized in roofing and ventilation systems, is selling its operations in Romania to Slovak entrepreneurs Marián Kapusta Sr. and Jr., thus ending its presence in the local market for metal profiles. The transaction includes the factory in Ștefăneștii de Jos, the storage operations, and the sales team, generating annual revenues of approximately 210 million Swedish crowns (18 million euros) and having about 100 employees.
The decision to exit Eastern Europe was announced in December 2024, due to the unsatisfactory profitability of the Profile Systems division, affected by weak market development and price volatility. Lindab will focus its efforts on the Scandinavian markets, while the buyers have also acquired similar operations in Slovakia and Hungary. The completion of the transaction is expected in the first quarter of 2026, having a positive impact on Lindab's cash flow. In the Romanian market, the manufacturer Bilka dominates the metal roofing sector, continuing its international expansion.
