The transcripts from the case of lawyer Adriana Georgescu, caught in the act while receiving a bribe of 60,000 euros, reveal how she boasted about her political connections. Georgescu claimed to have direct access to Nicușor Dan and Ilie Bolojan, mentioning meetings at Cotroceni. In discussions with an investigator, she noted that she communicated directly with them via WhatsApp and that she sent a table with the individuals who financially contributed to campaigns. Additionally, Georgescu presented herself as being close to former Prime Minister Ludovic Orban.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal decided to place the lawyer and a fake SIE general under preventive arrest, both being accused of influence peddling. Prosecutors claim that Georgescu promised favorable interventions in justice for a businessman in exchange for large sums of money, including for electoral campaigns.
