On July 1, 2026, the roadway on Bulevardul Basarabia in Bucharest collapsed, creating risks of further collapse. The Traffic Brigade established traffic restrictions on the direction from Câmpia Libertății street towards Bulevardul Nicolae Grigorescu, starting at 12:00, to allow for the remediation of the collapse.
This measure comes in the wake of severe storms that affected the Capital, causing flooding and damage to infrastructure. Authorities reported that in just a few hours, precipitation equivalent to a month's worth fell. The interventions were coordinated by various institutions, including sector municipalities and waste management operators.
Additionally, the National Meteorological Administration issued an orange code for storms, predicting new storms in the coming days. The police recommend that drivers avoid the affected area and adhere to temporary traffic signals.
