Judge Monica Claudia Cipariu from the Bucharest Tribunal has been sent to trial by the General Prosecutor's Office for abuse of office, after she delayed for almost five years the drafting of the reasoning in a case of attempted murder. Due to this delay, four defendants sentenced to prison terms between 5 and 12 years could not be held criminally accountable in a definitive manner. Prosecutors claim that the judge acted in bad faith, even though she had already been sanctioned disciplinarily for repeated delays, some concerning over 800 rulings not drafted in time.
