He reaffirmed the importance of Article 5 of the NATO Treaty, which obliges all member states to intervene in defense of an attacked ally. Moșteanu argued that Russia, already engaged in the conflict in Ukraine, could not open a new front against NATO, considering the superior military power of the Alliance.
