Minister Delegate for Pre-University Education Sorin-Gabriel Ionescu announced that the Ministry of Education is discussing with the Ministry of Labor the transfer of responsibility for students’ social scholarships, a measure intended to reduce bureaucracy in schools. He made the statement on Wednesday afternoon on Prima News.

Ionescu believes that the Ministry of Labor is the appropriate institution to administer these social benefits. The proposal is to be analyzed together with the minister in charge, including from the perspective of available budgetary resources. The transfer has not yet been decided.

The minister argued that teachers should be relieved of administrative activities that are not directly related to the educational process. In his view, the instructional planning document, which reflects the work carried out in the classroom, should remain the fundamental document for teaching staff.

Sorin-Gabriel Ionescu added that other administrative documents and tasks should be reassessed and, where possible, transferred to specialized structures. The Ministry of Education’s priority, he said, is the direct relationship between teacher and student, including assessing results and taking action according to the needs identified.
