The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) has reported an alarming link between excessive screen use and the deterioration of mental health, especially among children and young people. In this context, INSP is conducting a national awareness campaign under the slogan 'Be aware! Life lived online has offline consequences!' to raise awareness of the risks of addiction to digital technologies.

According to data, over 22,000 children and adolescents in Romania have been diagnosed with mental disorders, and the incidence of depression and anxiety has been steadily increasing. Experts emphasize that mental disorders are a major cause of disability among young people, and the associated safety risks are concerning, with suicide being the second leading cause of death among young people. INSP recommends a balanced use of technology and collaboration between family, school, and the health system to maintain the well-being of children in a digitized world.
