In 2025, professional drivers from India became among the most sought-after employees in Romania, due to the acute personnel shortage in the transport sector. They can earn between 1,200 and 3,000 euros per month, depending on experience and type of activity. The demand for foreign drivers has increased 3-4 times compared to previous years, with approximately 70,000 professional truck drivers needed in Romania.

The employment package includes the minimum salary and daily allowances, which vary depending on the type of transport. India is recognized as a traditional source of drivers, and candidates are carefully selected, having experience and speaking English. They are motivated to work to financially support their families back home.

Additionally, drivers from India are employed through strict legal procedures, being dependent on the employer for their residence rights, which limits their options for changing jobs. This situation contributes to their forced stability in Romania, but also attracts new employees from India to cover the personnel shortage in the sector.
