Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan explained on Monday, during a visit to Timișoara, that the state cannot stop the rise in fuel prices, which is influenced by international conflicts and logistical issues.
Bolojan emphasized that prices are rising globally, due to the situation in the Gulf and the war in Ukraine, and companies are adapting their protection strategies. He mentioned that there are risks for transporters, including additional insurance and transport costs, which are reflected in pump prices. Additionally, the interim prime minister highlighted that the increase in fuel prices has a direct impact on inflation in Romania.
As a temporary measure, the Ministry of Finance has reduced the excise duty on diesel by 20% between August 16 and August 31, 2026, to limit the economic pressure on the population.
