Ilie Bolojan, former president of the Bihor County Council and current mayor of Oradea, stated that he had no connection with the organization led by Viorel Pașca, involved in the illegal asylum scandal.
Bolojan explained that the Social Assistance Directorate of the Oradea City Hall rewards NGOs that carry out social activities, but he did not participate in these ceremonies. He emphasized that he had no regulatory authority over the situation of the asylums and that the county social inspection agencies are responsible for their verification.
Meanwhile, DIICOT prosecutors dismantled Pașca's network, accusing him of human trafficking and exploitation, and his family is set to be brought before the court. The investigation revealed that Pașca was sheltering hundreds of vulnerable individuals without authorization, and the Romanian state tolerated this situation.
