Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan was summoned by the DNA for October 2 in the case involving Vaslui businessman Fănel Bogos, but he has not yet confirmed whether he will appear for questioning. According to the investigation, Bogos allegedly offered 1.5 million euros to obtain an audience with the prime minister. Bolojan is expected to be questioned as a witness to explain the meeting with the businessman.
Fănel Bogos was questioned on September 2 at the Iași DNA office, where he is being investigated for incitement to blackmail and influence peddling. He claimed that he discussed money neither with Bolojan nor with the other people involved in the case. The businessman said that the meeting with the prime minister was brief and “principled” and accused DNA investigators of being led down the wrong paths.
Bogos was detained in November 2025 and placed in preventive arrest, and since March 2026 he has been under judicial supervision. In the same case, the Secretary-General of the Government, Cristina Trăilă, was charged with corruption.
Bolojan previously stated that he meets dozens of people every week and that, in Bogos’s case, he did not pursue proposals he did not consider feasible. The prime minister rejected the idea that access to him had been conditional on the payment of money.
