The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, expressed his confidence in Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who was questioned on Friday, October 2, at the DNA office in Iași, as a witness in the case involving businessman Fănel Bogos. Ciucu stated that he has no reason to consider Bolojan a corrupt person and referred to his lifestyle.

“Ilie Bolojan, like me, is the kind of guy who lives in a three-room apartment in a block of flats in Oradea. So he is not a corrupt guy; you don’t see him with private planes, you don’t see him living a lifestyle on various yachts, on various Mediterranean islands. Let’s be serious,” said the Capital’s mayor.

Asked about possible discussions between Bolojan and Fănel Bogos, Ciucu said that he had no information and called for the investigation to be left to the justice system. He stated that he has “no kind of concerns” regarding the prime minister.

Ilie Bolojan’s questioning concerned the meeting he had with Fănel Bogos at Victoria Palace in September 2025. According to the Government, the prime minister provided prosecutors with the requested clarifications regarding the circumstances in which the businessman came for an audience. Bolojan left the DNA office after approximately two and a half hours without making any statements.

Read also Rareș Bogdan claims that Ilie Bolojan is favoring AUR’s rise to power in order to increase his chances of becoming president: “It hurts him 25 kilometers from Romania!”
