Victor Ponta stated on Wednesday that he will reveal the names of the businesspeople he met with in Mykonos only after Romania has an installed government and that he was on the Greek island to “promote Romania”.

Asked about the private flight to Mykonos on July 8, which was attended by politicians, businesspeople, and magistrates, Ponta said that the trip aimed to promote Romania’s economic interests and refused to specify whom he had met.

“I was with the Chamber of Commerce to promote Romania, without using any public funds,” Victor Ponta stated.

Asked how he promoted Romania, he said it was by the fact that the country “will soon have a Government and Romania will once again become a stable and predictable country”.

He also implied that the issue of the flight to Mykonos emerged as “propaganda” to save “Mrs. Tănăsescu”, referring to the unannounced meeting between the head of the CCR and interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on August 14.

According to revelations by the Newscenter publication, former Prime Minister Victor Ponta was accompanied by former Labour Minister Florin Manole, UDMR senator István-Loránt Antal, and businessman Gruia Stoica, who has been criminally convicted.

The presence of CCR judge Cristian Deliorga on the plane is being investigated by the Judicial Inspection and the Senate’s Committee on Constitutional Affairs. USR deputy Emanuel Ungureanu notified the DNA and ANI in this case.
