PSD lawmaker Florin Manole defended from the floor of the Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday the trip by private jet to Mykonos, where he took part alongside judges, politicians and businesspeople. The statement was made during debates on establishing an investigative committee into flights linked to the Mykonos-Nordis case.

Manole argued that meetings discussing investments in Romania could not have been organized just anywhere. “Should the Chamber of Commerce have held a bilateral meeting in Ferentari to discuss investments in Romania? I think you are a little innocent,” the lawmaker said.

However, he did not specify what investments were discussed in Mykonos, nor who the Romanian delegation’s counterparts were. Manole only mentioned that the trip did not cost the Romanian state a single leu.

According to revelations by PressOne, in July, CCR judge Cristian Deliorga, former Prime Minister Victor Ponta, Florin Manole, UDMR senator István-Loránt Antal, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and several businesspeople flew to the Greek island. The exact reason for the trip and the delegation’s meetings have not been explained so far.
