Before the new request, USR and PNL had called for the establishment of an investigative committee into the private trips to Mykonos and Nice and the flights associated with the Nordis scandal. The initiative was accompanied by a protest in plenary: USR lawmakers came with toy airplanes and placards, while its leadership accused the PSD of blocking the discovery of the truth and called for verification of who paid and what interests lay behind it.
Subsequently, the Permanent Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies rejected the request to establish the committee. In parallel, the Judicial Inspection began checks related to the presence of a judge on one of the flights to Mykonos, while PNL and USR also announced additional steps to clarify how the trips were organized and financed.
