The Chamber of Deputies rejected an investigation into private flights to Mykonos and Nice

On Wednesday, the Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies rejected the request from the parliamentary groups of USR and PNL to establish an investigative committee regarding private flights to Mykonos and Nice, on board of which there allegedly were parliamentarians or former parliamentarians, a judge of the Constitutional Court, and businesspeople.

The initiating parties requested the transparent and documented clarification of the persons or entities that allegedly covered the costs of the trips, as well as the interests and reasons that may have led to these expenses being covered.

USR and PNL argued that it was also necessary to verify possible vulnerabilities concerning the integrity of the people on board, including any potential conflicts of interest. The request was made after information about the private flights and their passengers emerged in the public sphere.

The rejection of the request by the Standing Bureau prevents, at this stage, the establishment of a parliamentary committee dedicated to investigating these flights. The information was provided by Agerpres.
